Sweet and Savory Bulgogi Recipe! (Korean BBQ) — Haru Eats
You NEED to try this SIMPLE Korean BBQ bulgogi this weekend that will blow your mind!
The title says it all! This incredibly simple Korean BBQ bulgogi recipe is super delicious and easy to make. I grew up eating my mom’s bulgogi at home all the time. I remember getting super excited whenever I walked into the house and I smelled bulgogi being cooked. When I wanted to make it for myself, I was afraid that I wouldn’t get it right, but my mom showed me that there are a lot of ways to make bulgogi.
Today, I cook my bulgogi the same way that my mom taught me all those years ago. And surprise: It’s SUPER savory, sweet, salty, and delicious all in one!
The best part about this bulgogi recipe is that you can use any meat, including pork, beef, and chicken. For this recipe, I’m going to use meat. Feel free to swap out to your favorite choice of protein for this incredibly succulent bulgogi recipe!
The secret to a great bulgogi recipe is its sweetness, and these TWO ingredients have proven to work time and time again.
Everyone has their own way of making bulgogi. From Korean pear to Coca Cola, there’s a lot of ways to enhance the flavors of bulgogi so that you get that perfect balance of sweet and salty.
From my experience, the best way to make the most delicious bulgogi is by adding brown sugar and corn syrup. These two ingredients complement the soy sauce and other ingredients that go into this recipe perfectly. I like to do a 1:1 ratio of soy sauce to brown sugar so the bulgogi tastes equally sweet and savory. As you’re cooking, you can also tinker with the recipe by adding more of either one later. I’ll explain that part down in the recipe instructions below!
Not only do they make the bulgogi taste a lot better, but they’re also easy to find in your kitchen, meaning you don’t have to do any extra shopping to make this dish. It’s a win-win for your wallet and your stomach!
