You don’t need to go to the hills of Tuscany to taste authentic Italian food when you have spaghetti aglio e olio.

What is Spaghetti Aglio e Olio?

Spaghetti aglio e olio is a simple spaghetti dish that consists of two two primary ingredients-Garlic and onion. The best part is that you don’t need any fancy cooking technique to make it.

But don’t let its simplicity fool you. This dish comes packed with a lot of mouth-watering, delicious flavors in every bite. As the saying goes, simplicity is the ultimate complexity.

If you’re looking to impress your family or that special someone, then a plate of spaghetti aglio e olio will certainly take their tastebuds by surprise.

Ingredients

Cook time: 25 minutes
Preparation: 3 minutes
Total time: 28 minutes

Directions:

Start by pouring about a cup of water into a pot. You should use filtered water in case of contamination. Once the water is in, add 1 tablespoon of salt and stir gently.

Bring the water to a boil and add a handful of spaghetti noodles into the pot. Make sure to fit into the noodles inside the pot by gently pushing them down once they become soft.

With your tong, stir the noodle inside the water gently. This allows the noodles to absorb the salt evenly.

Set aside the noodles inside a bowl. Make sure to save the remaining pasta noodle for later.

In a pan, spread a light amount of olive oil. Next, add in minced garlic.

Spread the mixed garlic in the pan until they’re evenly spaced out.

Cook the garlic until it achieves a golden brownish color.

Add pasta noodle and stir around the pan. For taste, add in two spoons of the salted pasta water. The spaghetti is done once most of the water evaporates from the pan.

After, give the spaghetti a good shake.

Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on the top.

For the finishing touch, add a basil leaf on the top.

Buon appetito!
